Breaking Curses Prayer
A comprehensive prayer for breaking generational curses and entering into the blessing of Abraham. Inspired by Derek Prince's biblical teaching on spiritual freedom.
Preparation
Before praying, recognize these truths:
- Christ became a curse for us on the cross (Galatians 3:13)
- We have authority to break every curse through His sacrifice
- Curses can come through sin, occult involvement, or ancestral iniquity
- God desires to turn every curse into blessing (Deuteronomy 23:5)
The Prayer of Release
Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that You are the Son of God And the only way to God. You died on the cross for my sins And rose again from the dead.
On the cross, You were made a curse with every curse due to me, That I might be redeemed from the curse And enter into the blessing.
Confession
Lord, I confess any sins committed by me or my ancestors: (Pause to confess specific sins silently)
- Idolatry and false worship
- Occult practices and witchcraft
- Breaking of covenants
- Dishonor of parents
- Sexual immorality
- Injustice and oppression
- Unforgiveness and bitterness
I ask Your forgiveness and receive it by faith.
Forgiveness
I forgive every person who has harmed or wronged me. (Pause to forgive specific people) I forgive them as I want God to forgive me. I also forgive myself. I release all bitterness, resentment, and desire for revenge.
Renunciation
I renounce all contact with the occult in any form:
- Fortune telling and divination
- Horoscopes and astrology
- Ouija boards and séances
- False religions and secret societies
- Witchcraft and sorcery
- Any "contact objects" in my possession
I commit to destroy all occult objects and break these connections completely.
Declaration of Freedom
Having received Your forgiveness by faith, With the authority I have as a child of God, I now release myself and those under my authority From any curse over our lives.
Right now, in the name of Jesus, I DECLARE RELEASE! I break every curse:
- Of poverty and lack
- Of sickness and infirmity
- Of failure and frustration
- Of broken relationships
- Of mental torment
- Of premature death
- Of barrenness and miscarriage
I claim my freedom and receive it by faith In the mighty name of Jesus!
The Blessing Declaration
Through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, I have passed out from under the curse And entered into the blessing of Abraham, Whom God blessed in all things.
I am blessed in the city and blessed in the field. Blessed when I come in and blessed when I go out. The Lord commands His blessing upon my storehouse And upon all I set my hand to do.
I am the head and not the tail, Above only and not beneath. I lend and do not borrow. The Lord opens His good treasure to me.
Thanksgiving
Thank You, Lord Jesus! Thank You for Your blood that speaks better things! Thank You for complete freedom! Thank You that every curse is broken! Thank You that I walk in blessing!
I choose to continue in this new direction, Walking in obedience to Your Word, Maintaining my freedom through righteousness, Never returning to what You've delivered me from.
It is finished! Amen.
Maintaining Your Freedom
After breaking curses, protect your deliverance:
- Fill yourself with God's Word - Read Scripture daily
- Maintain a prayer life - Stay in communion with the Holy Spirit
- Walk in obedience - Sin gives the enemy legal ground
- Guard your tongue - Speak blessings, not curses
- Stay in fellowship - Connect with strong believers
- Destroy occult objects - Remove all "contact points"
- Resist the devil - Stand firm when attacked
Remember: You've made a U-turn. Keep walking in the new direction!
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree'), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus." — Galatians 3:13-14
