Your Shackles Aren't Real
Apostle Delmar Coward Jr. shared a vision that I cannot stop thinking about. In the spirit realm, he saw a person who was completely convinced they were shackled. Chained. Oppressed. Bound. They could not move. They believed with everything in them that they were a prisoner.
But when God showed Apostle the full picture, the chains were not locked around the person's wrists. The person was holding the handles of the chains with their own hands. They were gripping their own bondage. Nobody was keeping them there but themselves.
This is one of the most accurate pictures of the spiritual condition of God's people right now.
The Spiritual Architecture
"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." - 3 John 1:2
This verse contains the entire blueprint. Your spirit man, if you are born again, is already complete. Already unlimited. Already seated with Christ in heavenly places. Everything God has for you, your spirit already has access to. Every promise, every provision, every breakthrough, every 100x choice, it is already finished in the spirit.
But your soul, your mind, your will, your intellect, your emotions, is a different story. Your soul is the gateway. If your soul never rises to where your spirit already is, then what you see with your natural eyes becomes your limit. Your soul determines your ceiling.
As Apostle put it: you cannot go higher than your soul can see. Your spirit man is at the unlimited, the limitless. But if your soul never prospers, if your mind never gets up there, then you are stuck at whatever level your soul can perceive.
The Soul as Elevator
Think of your soul as an elevator. Your spirit is already on the top floor. God already gave you everything. It is finished. But your soul has to ride up to where your spirit is. And the mechanism that moves the elevator is faith.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." - Hebrews 11:1
When your faith rises, your soul rises. When your soul rises, your perception of what is possible expands. When your perception expands, you start walking into the rooms that were already prepared for you. Doors that were already open but that you could not see because your soul was stuck on a lower floor.
This is not imagination in the secular sense. This is the creative power of God working in your mind. The mind of Christ is the ultimate level. When you operate with the mind of Christ, there are no limits. Not on your prosperity, not on your health, not on your calling, not on anything.
How Chains Get Superimposed
The enemy's primary weapon is not power. It is deception. Satan superimposes chains, doors, gates, and walls onto your perception. He projects limitations into your mind that do not exist in the spirit. He makes you feel trapped in circumstances that God has already broken you out of.
This is why spiritual warfare is fundamentally a battle for your mind. The enemy cannot actually hold you. He can only convince you to hold yourself. Every lie he whispers, "you are not good enough," "God forgot about you," "this is as good as it gets," "you will never break through," is a chain handle he is putting in your hand and hoping you grip it.
And most people grip it. Because the chains feel familiar. Because limitation feels safe. Because staying small means never having to step into the terrifying, glorious, unlimited reality of who God actually made you to be.
Why People Hold Their Own Chains
Here is the uncomfortable truth: people almost want to be in chains. Not consciously. But the chains give them an excuse. If you are bound, you do not have to try. If you are oppressed, you do not have to step out in faith. If the circumstances are too hard, you do not have to obey the terrifying calling God put on your heart.
The chains are comfortable because freedom is responsibility. When you realize you are not actually shackled, you have to reckon with the question: then what am I doing here? Why am I not moving? Why am I not walking in the fullness of what God promised?
That question is scarier than the chains. So people hold on.
But God is saying: drop them. They were never real. The only thing keeping you in that prison is your grip on walls that do not exist.
Faith Compresses Time
Here is what I have been experiencing: the more faith you walk in, the more time itself seems to compress toward the desires of your heart. God already gave you the desires of your heart. He already prepared the harvest. When you get in faith for those things, you can move time.
Apostle confirmed this: the breakthrough is sudden. One moment you are in the prison. The next moment, the walls fall, the doors fly open, and God says: get out of here. Take everything. Just go.
This is what it looks like when shackles drop. It is not gradual. It is not incremental. It is a moment of recognition, a moment of faith, and then everything shifts. Time compresses. The harvest that should have taken years comes in one season.
"And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten." - Joel 2:25
The David Standard
I translated something Apostle said that crystallized the standard: we need to have so much success that it is unquestionable that our God is God.
David said to Goliath: "I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand... that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel." - 1 Samuel 17:45-46
David was not just fighting for himself. He was fighting so the whole world would know. That is the standard. Drop your shackles, walk in the fullness of your calling, achieve things that only God could explain, and let your life be the evidence that there is a God in Israel.
Do not be afraid to get excited about what God is doing. Do not mistake holy excitement for ego. If you are excited about what God is doing for you, what God is doing for humanity, through you, that is not pride. That is worship. That is faith. Stay there.
Recognition and Practice
Ask yourself:
- What chains am I holding right now that are not locked to anything? Name them. Finances, relationships, calling, health. Which limitations are real and which are superimposed?
- Where has my soul refused to rise? What level of blessing, success, or breakthrough have I decided is "too much" for someone like me?
- Am I gripping chains because freedom scares me? Is there a calling I am avoiding because stepping into it means I cannot hide anymore?
- What would I do today if I truly believed the shackles were not real?
Daily Practice: When you feel limited, bound, stuck, or oppressed, stop and look at your hands. In the spirit, are you gripping something? Are you holding handles that you could release at any moment? Pray: "Lord, I release these chains. They were never real. My spirit is already free. Bring my soul up to where my spirit is. I receive the mind of Christ. There are no limits."
Then act like it. Move like someone whose chains just fell off. Because they did.
"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." - John 8:36
